Luminous Robotics, Inc. is solving one of the defining infrastructure problems of this decade: decarbonization and AI data center growth are forcing the world to scale energy infrastructure faster than at any point in history. Based in Boston, we address this through flexible, physical AI robot fleets that build and operate solar energy infrastructure. In the past 12 months, we've developed three generations of LUMI robots and brought online clean energy for thousands of U.S. homes. THE ROLE

We're looking for a Product Co-op/Intern to help shape how LUMI robots are actually used — by our own deployment engineers in the field, and eventually by customers. Depending on your interests and strengths, you'll lean into product management (defining what we build and why, working closely with engineering to prioritize and ship it) or product design (turning field workflows and messy real-world constraints into interfaces and experiences that are genuinely usable outdoors, under pressure). Either way, you'll be working on a real product, with real users, not a hypothetical case study — the fleet dashboards and tools you help shape will be used by people standing at a solar site with a laptop in one hand.

RESPONSIBLITIES

Partner with engineering, deployment operators, and (eventually) customers to define requirements and priorities for LUMI product features and internal tooling
Conduct user research with field technicians and internal stakeholders to understand real workflows, pain points, and constraints
Depending on track: write PRDs, user stories, and acceptance criteria (PM), or build wireframes, prototypes, and user flows for dashboards and fleet-management tools (Design)
Use AI coding/design assistants to quickly prototype ideas, mock up flows, or explore technical feasibility before committing engineering time
Participate in sprint planning, backlog prioritization, and cross-functional engineering meetings
Analyze usage and field data to identify friction points and opportunities for improvement
Present findings, recommendations, and design/product decisions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

QUALIFICATIONS

Current graduate student in any field — MBA, Master's, or equivalent program — with genuine interest in pursuing product management or product design as a career path
A formal background in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (ideally at the bachelor's level) is strongly preferred, so you can speak fluently with robotics engineers about real constraints
Familiarity with product/design tooling such as Figma, Jira, or Linear
Familiarity with AI coding assistants such as Claude Code or OpenAI's developer tools, and comfort using them to prototype ideas or explore technical feasibility
Basic understanding of the software development lifecycle; hands-on coding experience is a plus but not required
Demonstrated interest in robotics, renewable energy, or clean tech
Excellent communication skills — comfortable translating between engineering, field operations, and business/customer needs
Ability to adapt in a fast-paced startup environment and willing to roll up sleeves, no matter the task
Team-oriented and excited about the real-world deployment challenges behind the product
Bonus: a portfolio of product case studies or design work, prior PM/APM internship experience, or direct exposure to hardware/robotics products
